Top Venezuelan diplomat in Kenya, murdered in her official residence.
The head of Venezuela’s embassy in Kenya who just started her job on July 15, was found murdered at her official residence in the capital, Nairobil
Police said they believed the charge d’affaires, Olga Fonseca, 57, was strangled to death in the white mansion surrounded by tropical trees and an electric fence in the exclusive Runda neighborhood.
“We received reports that she was found dead in the house on her bed. What we have seen is that she has been strangled,” Anthony Kibuchi, Nairobi area police commander, told reporters outside Fonseca’s residence.
Kenyan officials said some staff at the residency had complained about being fired by Ms Fonseca after they refused to retract allegations about her predecessor, Gerardo Carrillo Silva.
6 people are currently being held in connection with the murder.
Venezuelan embassy officials in Kenya were unavailable to comment.
